OLD L.A. ‘TURF DAYS’ MEMORIES RECALLED IN SUIT
Decree won from Richard P Restorick, Once Santa Anita Track Expert
Threats are alleged
Grand Marital Climax Came when Father Reviled his Daughter, Charge.
Recalling for just a moment, the famous old days when Ascot Park and Baldwin Park, on the Santa Anita Ranch, were used as horse racing tracks, Mildred P Restorick was granted a divorce today in the superior court from Richard P Restorick, who owned a stable of race horses when that sport was at its height in Los Angeles. Mrs Restorick secured the decree upon the strength of testimony that her husband continually reviled her, threatened her life, gambled and made slurring remarks about their pretty daughter, who was in court to corroborate the testimony of her mother.  “On one occasion he told me he hated the sight of me and threatened me with a gun” she said.  “He absolutely refused to support myself and  daughter, and told us that he didn’t care if we starved.”
“Did he ever gamble?” asked her attorney, Paul B D’Orr. “Very much” replied Mrs Restorick.
Richard died in Montreal in 1951.

The article below refers to his father Francis Pring Restorick.
Times Herald (Port Huron, Michigan) 13 Apr 1923:
VETERAN BUYER IS DEAD: RESTORICK KNOWN IN SARNIA
Sarnia, April 13 – The death occurred Thursday at his home in Watford of Francis Pring Restorick, 87, one of the best known men in the county of Lambton. As long as most of the oldest residents of the county can recall, Mr Restorick has been engaged in cattle and horse dealing on a large scale buying in every corner of the province and shipping to England.  He shipped the first load of cattle carried on the Grand Trunk railway.  He crossed the Atlantic with cattle and horses 35 times and his sons are all engaged in the same business.  The late Mr Restorick came from Devonshire, England, aged 18, to Warwick township and lived for the past 30 or 40 years in the town of Watford.  He was a regular visitor to Sarnia and generally known here.  Mrs Henry Conn of Sarnia is a daughter.

JOHN W RESTORICK was the second son of Francis Pring Restorick, below is his obituary.
Windsor Star (Windsor, Ont) Mar 15, 1946:
John William Restorick, 84, of 140 Glengarry Avenue, died yesterday in East Windsor Hospital after a long  illness. Mr Restorick came to Windsor two years ago, previously living in Watford and Toronto.  He is survived by two sons, Frank, Detroit; and Richard of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs Marciette Lostus of New York City; and a brother, Richard, Montreal. Burial will be in Windsor Grove Cemetery.

His wife had pre-deceased him and her obituary may indicate some estrangement:
Evening News (Wilkes-Barr, Pennsylvania) Mon, Mar 28, 1938:
MRS JOHN RESTORICK
The funeral of Mrs John Restorick was held today from the home of her brother, Stephen Mack, 293 Chestnut Street, Kingston. Mrs Restorick died on Thursday in Toronto. A requiem high mass was celebrated at St Ignatius Church.

FRANCIS, born 1865, was Francis Pring Restorick’s third son. Chapter G of Section VI showed he married Nona O’Dwyer in 1887 but she died in 1900 and that he had been sentenced on 8 May 1908 for 5-15 years for Perjury.  It also showed that in the 1910 census he was in the State Prison in Jackson City but was given a conditional pardon by the Governor on 27 Dec 1910 to be released on 10 January 1911. He died in 1915, age 50, and is buried in Watford, Ontario.

The article below gives more details.

Charged with larceny of $150 from Frederick Hughes of Watford, Ont., Frank Restrick(sic) a bartender at the Atlantic Hotel, was arrested Friday afternoon by Sheriff Davidson and Under Sheriff Davidson.  Mr Hughes , who made the complaint, is a prominent insurance agent of Watford.  He alleged that after going into the hotel in the morning he gave Restrick $150 to keep for him. Later when he asked for the money, Hughes says, Restrick refused to return it, stating that there was nothing coming.  When arraigned in the police court this morning Restrick pleaded not guilty to the charge of grand larceny and was held under $750 bail to appear for trial August 13.  He has retained Attorney James Benedict to defend him.

CRYSTAL SPRINGS July 18, – a log-hauling bee was organized by the board of trade and 500 logs were hauled to the sawmill of E Fisher on Tuesday.  The logs will be sawed and the lumber used to build a new home for Mr and Mrs P Restorick, who lost their home by fire.  About 25 men supplied teams to haul logs.
We have found Percy on www.familysearch.org on the 1916 census as Ruray Restorick (mistranscribed) at 24 Prince Albert, Saskatchewan with his wife Mary, age 24, both born Ontario and their three month old daughter Norma, born Saskatchewan.
We also found from www.findagrave.com that Percy’s second son Ralph Wessley born 1919 died 8 Dec 2001 and that his fourth son Lance Raymond born 1928 died in 1997. These dates of death can be added to pages 2 and 3 of Colyton Chart 1, page 3a(ii).
On the above website we found that gravestone of Frederick Wm Restorick born 1882 in Colyton, a son of Henry and Sarah Restorick. It is in Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien, Illinois and had the date of death as 1993 but we have been able to point out the error and that it should be 1936 (29 November).  The website has made a note on the page. Sarah was Henry’s first wife till 1879 then Elizabeth Ann Fowler was his 2nd wife till his death in 1904

GEORGE RESTORICK below was christened William George, the youngest son of Francis Pring Restorick.
