ELI HENRY RESTORICK, their youngest son born 1870, the articles below refer to him.
On www.familysearch.org we have found Henry E Ristorick(sic) on 1911 census for Lambton, Ontario, age 40, with his wife Henrietta, age 40, and their 12 year old son Ross, all born Ontario.

Windsor Star (Windsor, Ont) 9 Dec 1946:
CAB DRIVER IS AGED 76
Watford – Watford has one of the oldest taxi drivers in Canada.  Harry Restorick, who is in his 77th year, is out with his taxi daily.  Mr Restorick is one of the pioneers of the town and came to Watford when he was a young boy.  His father and family lived at Warwick Village and moved into Watford when this community was first started.  They ran a livery stable for many years but with the advent of the auto horses gradually disappeared for livery purposes. Mr Restorick then started a taxi service which has run continually since.  He claims that he has seen more trains go through this town than any local citizen.

Windsor Star (Windsor, Ont) 29 Dec 1953:
H RESTORICK DIES AT 84

He had been in ill health for several  weeks.  Prior to that he resided with his only son, Ross, at Greenville, Michigan.  His wife, the former Henrietta Learn, died several years ago. Interment was at Alvinston Cemetery.

ROSS LEARN RESTORICK
(born 1899) was Eli Henry’s only son. Below is the obituary of Ross’s widow Belle Leone (Cline). Minden City Herald (Minden City, Michigan) 12 Sep 1996:
Belle L Restorick, age 91, of Deckerville, died Wednesday September 4, 1996, in Autumnwood of Deckerville.  She was born December 15, 1904 in Deckerville, the daughter of James and Keturah (Pelton) Cline.  She married Ross Restorick on September 6, 1925 in Detroit.  He preceded her in death November 29, 1991. Burial was in the Forester Cemetery.

MINNIE (MARY) RESTORICK
, was the wife of Joseph, second surviving son of William and Louisa, we have found Minnie’s  death on 21 March 1959.

WILLIAM CHARLES RESTORICK
, born 1899 Watford, Ont., elder son of Joseph Restorick and his wife Minnie (Evans). The next two articles refer to him:
Times Herald (Port Huron, Michigan) 27 April 1917:
WILL BE DEPORTED
William Restorick is being held at the county jail and will be turned over to the immigration officials for deportation.  It is alleged that Restorick is a deserter from the Canadian army and it is probable that he will be taken into custody after crossing the border.  The police took him into custody on a charge of vagrancy but it was thought best to deport him and get him out of the city.
A search on www.canadiangreatwarproject.com found his enlistment papers into the 52 Btn, Canadian Expeditionary Forces on 28 June 1915 at Sarnia, Ontario. These show his Regimental Number was 90915, was a farmer, born at Watford, Ontario on 3 January 1897 (actually born in January 1899. he was in fact only 16 years old), His height was 5 feet 6 inches, fair complexion, brown eyes and fair hair, religion Church of England. He was single and gave his next of kin as his mother Minnie, of Watford, Ontario.
There is another set of Attestation Papers dated 15 December 1915 when he said he was born on 2 January 1898 and his next of kin was his father Joseph Restorick. He also stated he had previously served in 29 Bty, Canadian Field Artillery.  On these papers he gave his name as William Restorick and signed W Restorick whereas in the earlier ones his name was William Charles Restorick and he signed as such. It would seem that he was trying to change his details so that the two sets of papers would not be noticed.
William Charles Restorick died 12 May 1972, age 73, and is buried in Woodland Cemetery, London, Ontario. His headstone states he was a Private, 52 Btn C.E.F., Sapper R.C.E.

From the information on his headstone we found his army papers through a search on www.canadiangreatwar project.com.  As shown above, he has two sets of Attestation Papers, the first in the name of William Charles Restorick, are dated 28 June 1915 when he stated he was 18 years old giving his date of birth as 3 January 1897 but it was in fact 22 January 1899 so he was only 16 years old. He was enlisted into 29th Bty, Howitzer Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, was a farmer, and gave his next of kin as his mother, Mrs Minnie Restorick, of Watford, Ontario. On these papers he signed at William Charles Restorick.  It seems they found out he was under age as he was discharged on 31 July 1915 at Guelph, Ontario.  A second set of Attestation Papers with service number 845156, dated 15 December 1915 when he gave his date of birth as 2 January 1898 (so he was almost 17) and stated that he had previously enlisted in 29 Field Bty, CEF (Canadian Expeditionary Force). This time he says he is a labourer and gives his father Joseph, of 471 York Street, London, Ontario, as next of kin. This time he signed as W Restorick. These papers state he was 5ft 6ins tall, 36 inch chest, fair complexion, light brown hair and dark blue eyes (this may be an error as the previous papers said his eyes were brown. Both sets of papers state his religion was Church of England. The rest of his papers show he served in Ontario from 14 Dec 1915 till 24 March 1918 with Central Training Depot,  21st Regt (No. 1 Special Serv. Company).  He was transferred to 1st Depot Btn on 28 December 1917.   He sailed on SS Grampian to England, arriving 3 April 1918. He was received into 47 Btn, then on 6 September to 52 Btn.  On 2 October 1918 he was admitted to Etaples Military Hospital due to shell gas. He returned to his regiment on 6 November 1918, five days before the armistice was signed.
His was still in France in early 1919 when there is an entry stating that he was in confinement awaiting trial from 3 February to 27 March 1919, on which date he was tried and convicted by Court Martial.  He had offered violence to a superior officer being in execution of his office on 3 February 1919 by pointing a loaded revolver at a Lance Corporal who was in execution of his office of Military Policeman, also using insubordinate language to the Lance Corporal. He was sentenced to two years hard labour.  On 16 April he was sent from Le Havre to HM Prison Maidstone then to Wandsworth Detention Barracks. On 2 July his sentence was commuted to detention for same period. On 23 July his sentence was remitted and on 25 July he sailed to Canada on the Saturnia from Glasgow, arriving in Canada on 4 August. On 15 September 1919 he married Lillian Burdette at London, Ontario.  He then disappears from records until the incident below.

Windsor Star, Windsor, Ontario 4 May 1927:
TELLS ROBBERY PLOT: NABBED
LONDON, Ont,  4 May 1927 – Attempting to square himself for an upaid taxi bill by confiding in William Restorick, London taxi man, his plans for a bank robbery in Tavistock and promising reward if he would lend his aid, a Detroiter is now in the hands of the police on a nominal charge of vagrancy.  Restorick listened to the Detroit man’s story of the contemplated robbery and tipped off the police.  The police will not divulge the name of the man under arrest.
There is a correction to be made on Colyton Chart 1, page 3a(i).  William Charles Restorick – delete second marriage. Put second marriage next to his son William Charles (born 1936) – married Agnes E Barnes 17 Mar 1978 div. 23 Oct 1978, both Florida.

ORVILLE RESTORICK, born 1900 in Watford, Ontario, was second surviving son of Joseph and Minnie Restorick, the articles below refer to him:
